Описание: If you get off at Exit 3 of City Hall Station on Subway Line 1, you’ll find yourself in the heart of Seoul, where history and culture are alive and breathing. There’s no better place than Cecil Theater to take in a panoramic view of old downtown Seoul. From the rooftop on the fifth floor, you can see at a glance the Gothic-style Anglican Cathedral of Korea, the serene courtyard of Deoksugung Palace, and even the plaza in front of City Hall. After enjoying a moment in the gentle winter sunlight, take a stroll along the stone wall road of Deoksugung toward Jeong-dong. As you walk past charming historic buildings, you’ll come upon Jungmyeongjeon Hall. This is where King Gojong, the last emperor of the Joseon Dynasty, spent his final years. It is also the tragic site where the Eulsa Treaty was signed, forcing Korea’s annexation by Japan. When you continue walking for about five minutes past Jungmyeongjeon, you’ll see Gyeonghuigung Palace, one of the five grand palaces of the Joseon Dynasty. Originally, it boasted more than 100 buildings, but much of it was damaged during the Japanese colonial period. Today, parts of it have been restored, preserving its historic charm.
