This is the third in a series of 4 videos, each one set up as a virtual field trip through the various rocks and landscapes of the Pacific Northwest- working through its past billion years of geologic history!
Here, we pick up after the accretion of the final terrane- Siletzia. By this point the bulk of the modern landmass of the Pacific Northwest had been assembled, but the geologic processes were still hard at work! Between 50 and around 15 million years ago, extension, formation of the Western Cascades, and giant floods of lava would rule the landscape!
