Paddling the Roanoke River Trail

Описание: NC’s Roanoke River and its tributaries offer a unique wilderness experience for paddlers and outdoor enthusiasts. Meandering from the Coastal plain to the Atlantic Ocean, the Roanoke River fans out through the largest intact bottomland hardwood forest ecosystem east of the Mississippi. This vast natural corridor is home to black bear, river otter, white-tail deer, bobcat, and beaver, plus more than 200 bird species. Ancient bald cypress trees and towering tupelos form a lush overhead canopy along the Roanoke.Sixteen unique riverside camping platforms are a signature component of this trail running from Weldon, Hamilton, Williamston, Jamesville and Plymouth and on to the Albemarle Sound and the Chowan River in Edenton, as well as up the Cashie River to Windsor. Nearly 140 miles of water trail link these campsites. Reservations on-line or by phone.
