...............About This Video................
What is Hyperpigmentation?
Hyperpigmentation is a common skin condition in which certain areas of the skin become darker than the surrounding skin. This occurs due to an overproduction of melanin, the pigment responsible for giving color to our skin, hair, and eyes.
🔍 Why Does Hyperpigmentation Happen?
There are several causes of hyperpigmentation:
1. Sun Exposure: UV rays trigger melanin production as a defense mechanism.
2. Hormonal Changes: Common during pregnancy (melasma), or due to birth control pills.
3. Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH): Dark spots after acne, injuries, or skin treatments.
4. Medications: Certain drugs can trigger excess melanin.
5. Genetic Factors: Some people are naturally more prone due to their skin type.
👩🦱 Who Is More Prone to Hyperpigmentation?
Darker skin tones (Fitzpatrick skin type III-VI) are more likely to develop hyperpigmentation due to naturally higher melanin levels.
Common in people from South Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America.
🩺 How Can We Reduce or Treat Hyperpigmentation?
