Hiking for 4 Days in Simien Mountains | The Roof of Africa

This region celebrates contrasting landscapes, from deep gorges to towering rocky peaks, arid lands to mossy forests, and inhospitable weather to fascinating wildlife. We take the trails on high narrow ridges overlooking the magical landscape; from dense forests down below to sheer cliffs and soaring escarpments. Simien mountains form the largest continuous area of its elevation in the continent earning the title "The Roof of Africa"

Spotted some of the endangered Walia Ibex which have been reduced to a single population of about 400 individuals in Ethiopia and whose numbers are still declining.

We reached the summit after 4 days of braving the diverse terrains with steep rocky climbs and extreme temperatures. With an altitude of 4,437 meters above sea level, Mount Bwahit is one of the highest points of the Simien Mountains.
