Language Varieties
Accent:
Whether one speaks in the standard variety of a language or not, one always speaks with an accent.
Technically, the term 'accent' is restricted to "the description of aspects of pronunciation that identify where an individual is from, regionally or socially" (George Yule).
Dialect:
A regional variety of language distinguished by features of vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation from other regional varieties and constituting together with them a single language (Webster Dictionary).
