Описание: A rare film from director Norman Walker, "Hard steel" has been out of circulation since a screening on C4 in 1987. Wilfrid Lawson plays an ambitious steel worker who sacrifices everything in the pursuit of his goals, until he is brought back to reality by the wise counsel of a long standing friend. The film also serves as a backdrop to the heavy industrial world of steel making, set in the early days of WW2 when demand for steel was intensifying. This often moving family drama gave character actor Wilfrid Lawson a rare leading role as the ruthless man nearly destroyed by his own ambition, with Betty Stockfield as his supporting and sympathetic wife. The film has never been made available in any format, and this one tv screening in 1987 is, I believe its last, so it is ready for reappraisal.
