Описание: Violist Marina Thibeault, born in Québec city, began her musical studies at the age of six under the guidance of her elderly-fiddler-neighbour. At 9 years old, she was the youngest violin student to enter the Conservatoire de Musique de Québec. Through her studies with professors Michael Tree and Roberto Diaz at the Curtis Institute of Music, she gained considerable concert experience and an extensive repertoire from Baroque to Modern music.
In order to deepen her studies, she attended the Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana under the tutelage of Bruno Giuranna. Marina is currently completing her Master’s degree with André Roy at the McGill University, where she is the Teaching-Assistant. Further guidance include master classes with Maxim Rysanov, Thomas Riebl, Lars Anders Tomter, Vladimir Mendelssohn and Gérard Caussé. Marina has participated in numerous music festivals. At 17, she was the youngest principal viola for the New York String Orchestra Seminar. She has also attended the Music Academy of the West, the Perlman Chamber Music workshop, Taos School of Music, Aurora Master classes and IMS Prussia Cove.
Active in the chamber music scene, she has collaborated with members of the Guarneri Quartet, the Cleveland Quartet, the London Haydn Quartet, Matt Haimovitz, Martin Beaver and Steven Dann, to name a few. Her interest in new music has led her to work with living composers such as John Corigliano, Joan Tower and Krzysztof Penderecki.

Marina was a 2007 winner of “CBC Young Artist”, She was also a 2008 prize-winner at Hradec’s Beethoven International Music Competition in the Czech Republic, after which she gave a recital tour in Prague and Teplice, during the Music Festival Ludwig van Beethoven. Marina is the winner of the 2015 McGill Concerto Competition and will perform the Schnittke Concerto with MGSO next season.

In November 2014, Marina toured as an Emerging Artist under the management of Les Jeunesses Musicales du Canada around Quebec and Ontario with an all eastern european recital: White Nights in Russia.

Marina is also a Hatha Yoga teacher. Former teacher at the Sivananda Yoga Center in Montreal, she carries on giving workshops and conferences on yoga for musicians.

Janelle Fung has racked up a few travel points thanks to performances with the Seattle
Symphony, the Orchestre de Lyon, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the
Eastman Philharmonic, and Portland Symphony Orchestra. She has concertized extensively throughout the United States, Canada, France, Italy, South Korea, and Japan. Recent highlights include a 15-city tour of Quebec and Ontario, a 10-city tour of Argentina, concerts at the Isabella Stewart Gardner museum in Boston, and the Canadian Opera Company’s Free Concert Series in Toronto. A relaxed conversationalist and fluent in English and French, Janelle has performed in live broadcasts for CBC Radio, Radio Canada, and Classical 96.3FM. She has also been heard on National Public Radio (NPR) in the US, and Radio France.

A big fan of chamber music, Janelle has collaborated with the Ying Quartet, New York
Woodwind Quintet, soprano Nicole Cabell, and baritone William Warfield.

Janelle is a prize winner in numerous national and international competitions, including the Marguerite Long-Jacques Thibaud Competition, the Joanna Hodges International Piano Competition, the Concours OSM-Standard Life, and the Canadian Music Competition.

Born in Vancouver, Canada, Janelle Fung began her piano studies at the age of four. Her principal teachers include Nelita True, Julian Martin, Jacques Rouvier and Marc Durand. Ms. Fung received degrees from the Eastman School of Music and The Juilliard School. She received her doctorate from Université de Montréal, where she is the teaching assistant to Marc Durand.
