Tigers are orange — so why do deer and wild boars see them as green or gray?
The answer lies in animal vision science.
Deer and boars are red–green color blind. Their eyes cannot detect orange or red wavelengths, so a tiger’s orange fur blends into green forest surroundings. Combined with black stripes and forest lighting, the tiger becomes nearly invisible to its prey.
This is a perfect example of evolutionary camouflage designed for the prey’s eyes — not human eyes.
