For a while the people of Naukapuri saw the sandalwood tree floating in the Gautami stream and were invisible to those who went to bring it ashore. One day Swami appeared in the dream of an old Brahmin in a village and you could not see me under the influence of Kali. Before dawn, Suchiga Gautami said that if one goes into the riverbed in a ship with holy mangala instruments after bathing, one can find the sandalwood box where Krishnagarudapakshi is located. The sandalwood box appears as the people go as Swami orders. It was opened by an expert sculptor and featured a statue of Narayana with a conch, chakra and gadayudu. With this, a temple was built on the banks of the river Gautami for the archetype with the features known to the Naradadus in the past and the worship of the idol began with reverence.
The present temple was built in the river basin due to its inclusion in the river bed and later the present temple was built by a family of Agnikulakshatri named Pinapothu Gajendradu.
