I grow tired of seeing people say that the 4014 is being pushed by the diesel, as that could not be further from the truth. The 4014 assumes the majority of the work load where possible, and as evidenced by the sights and sounds in this video, she's definitely pulling her fair share of the 1500 ton train behind her tender's drawbar as she accelerates out of Atlanta, TX, climbs inland, and accelerates out of Hope, AR.

The diesel locomotive is on the train for the following:
1. Dynamic braking
2. PTC compliance (under the current setup)
3. Emergency situations (low water) and extending the operating range by conserving fuel oil and water where necessary.
