DIPLE II is a compact and portable hardware platform that allows to make experiments of microscopy with any smartphone or tablet in a number of different ways. You can even use it for fluorescence microscopy.
The effectiveness of your experiments of fluorescence microscopy depends on the fluorescence quantum yield of your specimen and on the light source and filters in use. However, the peculiar mechanical configuration of DIPLE II permits to cut-off most of the reflected radiation, so reducing the noise in the signal to noise ratio of the collected radiation.
In this experiment, we show a fluo marker stroke next to a non-fluo marker stroke, illuminated in bright-field with white light, and in oblique illumination with a commercial pointer laser (405nm).
