Ōmaha is a small beach town on Ōmaha Bay in the Auckland Region, in the north of New Zealand. It is located 74.7 km north of central Auckland. It is on a sandspit that adjoins Tāwharanui Peninsula and separates Whangateau Harbour from Ōmaha Bay.
It was developed in two main stages, the first in the 1970's and the second in the late 1990 resulting in very distinct differences in the style of homes with much stricter design and colour restrictions being placed on the latter development.
Originally a mainly a holiday home destination, with the advent of the internet and the ability to work remotely this has undoubtedly seen a change to a lot more permanent residents.
Handy to the township of Warkworth ( • Warkworth, New Zealand ) and Auckland City now that the northern motorway extends to Warkworth even commuting to the city is a probability for some.
