Starting in 2025, LMGT3 cars in WEC are limited to a maximum sound level of 100 dB(A), measured at 15 meters from the edge of the track (at 3 m height) using the “LP procedure”. The new 100 dB cap made GT3 cars in the world endurance championship noticeably “muffled” compared to past seasons. The character of their exhaust notes changed, resulting in sharper tones and aggressive pops strongly dampened.
This is quite a reduction compared to how “free” the GT3 cars sounded previously. Here is an example of how the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo II sounded before and after being muffled.
