Early days with a new NIMB experiment. I was curious if I could get some kind of effect out of running sequenced control voltage into the no-input mixing board. At the very least, I figured that the gates on a sequencer could be used to ping the mixing board (not shown here), but it looks like there are some opportunities to use CV as well.
So far, it looks like the difference in voltage between two steps on the sequencer has an effect on the way that it interrupts a feedback loop, which means that you can effectively interrupt the loop to different degrees depending on the difference between two steps. I think I like this best for a loop that's already doing something more dynamic than producing a stable tone. It produces percussive sequences that have good variety but consistently repeat.
To be clear, a sequencer is not able to "sequence" the mixing board in the traditional meaning of controlling pitch per step. Instead, you are controlling the degree of interruption between steps. I think there's still a lot for me to unravel on this thread, but I'll plan to do a more thought out explanation of this technique when I feel like I get there.
