The Village Green Preservation Society: Stereo Remix

Описание: If there's one thing The Kinks' masterful "Village Green" album always needed, it was a proper stereo mix. The 2004 deluxe edition featured a beautifully remixed "Johnny Thunder", but in the liner notes we were told that it was the only one which could receive that treatment, as the multi-tracks were missing for everything else. Well, they must have been found, because the 2014 "Anthology: 1964-71" release featured wonderful remixes of "Village Green" and "Starstruck", and then finally the 50th anniversary superdeluxe set featured remixes (with additional session chatter) of 8 more of the album's songs plus "Days". This, therefore, is an attempt to collect all of these remixes into one album, following the basic track order of the original 15-track edition although because three songs still have not seen remixes ("Sitting By The Riverside", "All Of My Friends Were There" and "Wicked Annabella"), I've added in the new remixes of "Days" and "Mr. Songbird", originally included on the European 12-track version. While "Walter" has also not been remixed, the original European mix is interesting and I feel worthy of inclusion here (plus, I couldn't bear to leave it out!).

These official remixes are sensational to these ears--far superior to the original mixes--although most are on the now hard-to-find 50th anniversary set. Also, the session chatter, while cool, keeps it from sounding like a finished album, so that has been removed. This version is now as close as one can get to a properly remixed "Village Green" LP.
