The owner of a 2019 Volkswagen Transporter T6 came to us with complaints about unusual noises coming from the front suspension while driving. During diagnostics, we identified two main issues:
— Worn stabilizer (sway bar) links that have already started knocking;
— Severe tears in the rear control arm bushings.

In this video, we show the full process of replacing these components.
Keep in mind that both the stabilizer links and the control arm bushings must always be replaced in pairs - on the left and right sides simultaneously. In the video, we demonstrate the procedure on the left side only - the right side is identical.

Special attention is required for the correct orientation of the bushing when pressing it into the control arm - the correct position is clearly shown in the video.

Removing the stabilizer link can be problematic - sometimes it has to be cut off if it cannot be unscrewed.

During the job, I also pre-lubricate the tie rods and tie rod ends, because wheel alignment is required after replacing the bushings. In the video, I remove the tie rod end only to make filming easier - this step is not necessary during actual repair.

A crucial rule:
🔧 Control arm bushings must be tightened only when the vehicle is standing on its wheels, meaning the suspension is in its natural working position. They must not be tightened while the vehicle is lifted.
