The Pecos River is a cherished New Mexico river starting in the very heart of Northern New Mexico's Pecos Wilderness. The Pecos River is the life source for thousands along its length who produce corn, Chile, watermelons, cucumbers, tomatoes, squash, peppers, garlic, and a vast array of other crops for New Mexicans to enjoy. In this short film, Ralph Vigil and other local voices from the Pecos River valley share their experiences, voices, and concerns for the Pecos. This episode is the very first film in a new series from Gregg Flores titled Heart In Culture. This series will feature a diverse set of voices and stories. "The Pecos River - Our River" is dedicated to the memory and lifework of Ralph Vigil. Thankfully I was able to capture his voice, and I also believe his vision, prior to his unexpected passing. Thank you for all the work you did for the Pecos and those who depend on it, Ralph. RIP brother.
