很多人不知道，直到1950年代，荃灣還是個瀕臨淺海的狹小平地，上面有十幾個客家村莊，過着簡樸的農耕生活。但戰後政府需要大量土地，發展經濟及安置由國內來港的難民，於是便徵收了村民的土地，讓他們搬到附近的山坡，同時也放棄了他們的傳統生活。在這一集裏，我們找到荃灣河背村的村長，細說荃灣滄海桑田的變化。
Most of us do not know that Tsuan Wan was a narrow plain beside a shallow sea with about a dozen Hakka villages. The villagers were leading a simple farming life until the 1950s. However, after the WWII, the government urgently needed land to develop the econmy and accommodate the infux of refugees from the mainland. The villagers then had to give up their farmland and move to the hillside.They have abandoned their traditional way of life since then. In this episode, we ask the village heads of Ho Pui Village to tell us the details of the changes of Tsuen Wan.
