Drosera lanata is an easier-growing Petiolaris sundew compared to other species. It can be treated similarly to D. paradoxa.
Petiolaris sundews do best when fed often, given bright light, high humidity, sufficient moisture and hot temperatures (85-100 degrees F or ~30-40 degrees C). They do not need dormancy, but will start to form a dormant bud if conditions are unfavorable. Some growers have been able to keep D. falconeri growing long-term in a hot, bright terrarium without the need for dormancy. However, sometimes, petiolaris sundews can be oddly picky, and will go dormant or become sickly even when the conditions are fine. This can be due to parasitic insects in the soil or fungal attack, which may be encouraged at times due to the conditions in a terrarium. Therefore, insecticides or fungicides may be needed under certain circumstances.
But sundews like D. paradoxa and D. lanata have proven to be easy to grow long-term and can be very rewarding.
