A couple of weeks ago I started noticing a funny noise coming from the steering wheel of my 2022 Ford F250 when turning the wheels. The sound is definitely coming from the steering wheel itself and not from any of the other drive components. There has been no modifications made to any of these components and is 100% factory. The truck has 15k miles on it and I am the only owner. As well, this truck does not include the adaptive steering, Pro Trailer Backup Assist, Lane departure warning, or anything like that. It's a pretty basic steering set up. As well, all of the buttons on the steering wheel work, the horn works and I can only assume that the airbags work (haven't tested that out!) The odd thing is that the noise only happens when the truck is cold... once it warms up, the noise goes away.
When researching it I have found other YT videos, as well as threads over on the Ford Truck Enthusiasts site presenting the same issues... I can hear the exact same noise in other YT videos, and the descriptions fit mine, particularly that it only happens when it gets cold and not when it's warmed up. The issue found in those other sources is the clock spring inside the steering wheel, and possibly even the SCCM. One poster even said the dealership "greased the steering column" however that did not solve the problem either.
I have an appointment with my local Ford dealership to get mine checked out soon, especially since it's still under warranty.
