🚧 Nearly 7 years after its launch, the Gitaru Interchange remains incomplete—despite being part of the multi-billion shilling Western Bypass contract. Progress has slowed drastically in 2025, with little visible work happening on site.
In this MJENGO HUB update, we explore why this crucial link between Waiyaki Way, the Southern Bypass, and the Western Bypass still isn’t fully operational. Could shifting government priorities, variation orders, or the growing preference for PPPs be leaving traditional public infrastructure behind?
Though some ramps like the Southern Bypass one are complete, others remain untouched, and the junction’s current state poses serious risks—no street lights, limited lane markings, missing signage, and unclear merges.
