The idea of featuring Batman alongside a roster of sidekicks and allies dates back to Robin's first appearance in 1940, just a year after Batman debuted in Detective Comics #27. However, several DC movies and shows seem to neglect the wider Bat-Family, with the only live-action film featuring both Dick Grayson and Batgirl being Batman & Robin (1997). Matt Reeves' The Batman portrays Bruce Wayne in his second year of crime-fighting, while James Gunn's new DCU—a fresh start following the failure of the DCEU—is set to introduce The Brave and the Bold, centering on Damian Wayne as Robin. That film will likely incorporate established characters like Nightwing, Red Hood, and Tim Drake. In Zack Snyder’s DCEU, Ben Affleck’s Batman had a Robin years before the events of Batman v Superman, with Snyder confirming that the Joker and Harley Quinn were responsible for Robin’s death. This was a disservice, to say the least, as it eliminated the opportunity for a Teen Titans movie within a universe that included Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, and the rest of the Justice League. There are only so many adaptations that feature the Bat-Family, whether it be the DC Animated Movie Universe (DCAMU), Batman: Arkham Knight, Gotham Knights, Young Justice, or various self-contained DC Comics stories.
