In this video, Ron Giovannone at Nook Industries talks with Lisa Eitel, Motion Editor with Design World magazine, about his company’s bevel gear screw jacks.
Worm screw jacks have served the industry well, but over the past several years there's been more demand for more efficient screw jacks. That's because worm gear jacks were designed to operate at a 30% duty cycle or so. For many of today’s applications, this just isn’t suitable.
In contrast, bevel-gear screw jacks incorporate rugged components with ground spiral-bevel gears to handle loads from 12 to 117 kN; they're also oil filled, which allows heat to transfer away from the gear set more easily — so bevel gear jacks can operate at a much higher duty cycle … and in many applications, at 100% with higher speeds.
