VX1 is nothing more than an equalizer, a compressor, a delay and a reverb that have been specially designed to achieve the kind of #vocals we commonly hear in pop and disco songs.

CONTOUR selects between the three most used reverbs in these styles: C1 is a medium general purpose reverb. C2 is a long reverb appropriate for ballads. C3 is a tight room able to place the vocal in your face. Each CONTOUR adjusts the delay time according to the selected reverb style but it can be later modified by the DLY control. In the CONTOUR 1 and 2 modes the equalizer consists of two bands specially designed to bring clarity and presence to a track that has not been previously processed. Both bands are very effective, a small touch goes a long way and they can even create telephone effects by placing both in the minimum. In the CONTOUR 3 mode COMPRESS is replaced by a third EQ band: AIR, which is responsible for adding the sound universally known as "expensive" and which is recurrent in energetic styles such as EDM and Rap.

FX controls the signal level sent to the effects so it controls the volume of the reverb and the delay. If you want to adjust or mute the delay later, you can use DLY MIX.

To listen to the effects section in isolation we can select SEND. This mode is designed to use the effects of VX1 in parallel but it is an excellent opportunity for fine tuning.

DECAY allows you to further adjust the reverb time within the selected style. VRB TONE is a tone control applied to the reverb, try to find a tone completely contrasting with that of the original signal...

Now, the first thing you really have to do when you insert VX1 is to adjust SENSITIVITY until the led turns yellow in the loudest passages. With this you will be ensuring that the compressor is doing its job correctly. The second thing to do is to adjust OUTPUT until the output volume is equal to that of the plugin in BYPASS. This way you can listen to the work of the compressor and avoid signal overloads later.

COMPRESS allows you to increase or decrease the original compression amount for each preset assuming that SENSITIVITY has been adjusted correctly.

So essentially this is all you have to do to get at least a good foundation on which to create a #million-dollar voice track. Of course if necessary you can use other #plugins before or after VX1 such as a deesser or additional compression and equalization.
