Colorado football's 2026 season opener at Georgia Tech moved to Thursday night
For the third consecutive season and for the 12th time in the last 14 seasons, the Buffaloes have moved their football season opener off a traditional Saturday.
Colorado's 2026 opener at Georgia Tech has been moved and will now be played on Thursday, Sept. 3, in Atlanta with national television coverage on ESPN. The kickoff time for the game will be announced at a later date.
It will be just the second ever matchup between the Buffaloes and Yellow Jackets on the gridiron, and it be CU's second time playing football in the Peach State. The Buffs traveled to Athens to play Georgia in 2006.
Led by senior quarterback Haynes King, Georgia Tech won the first game between the two programs this past Aug. 29, by a touchdown, 27-20. Brent Key took over as the Yellow Jackets' head coach five games into the 2022 season, and he has gone 20-11 in conference play.
