Bangladesh Election Crisis: BANNED Awami League Rejects Polls as ‘Illegal’ Under Yunus Govt

In a strongly worded statement, the Awami League accused the interim regime of attempting to force an election without the country’s largest political force, warning this could push Bangladesh into a deep constitutional crisis. The party is demanding the withdrawal of cases against Hasina, the release of political prisoners, removal of all restrictions on its organisation, and the formation of a neutral caretaker government to ensure credible elections.
As Bangladesh prepares to vote on 300 seats and hold a referendum on the ‘July charter’, political uncertainty continues to intensify across the country.
