In telling his stories, Silvio gives voice to the pain, the courage, and the bewilderment of those he meets in the course of his work as a medical interpreter. His material is drawn from the many human ways people cope with the unavoidable bleakness of scary medical situations without speaking the language. Silvio’s performances mix the mundane and the sacred, tragedy and comedy, exposing the raw beauty and horror of being alive, and always leaving people with a smile.
“I met Gangaji in 2000. I still remember the day that I was brought to a meeting place in San Rafael. I heard Gangaji’s sweet voice and words but I could not understand anything. However, when I got home I felt something indescribable that I had never felt before: a peace and a presence, no thoughts, just pure beauty. I knew immediately that it was my path, and since then she has always illuminated me.”
Here is a version “AWAKE!” as performed at a weekend retreat in the Bay Area with Gangaji.
