当丸峠 道道998号線と当丸沼 Toumaru Pass Route 998 and Toumaru Marsh

当丸峠は北海道の積丹半島東岸の古平町から西岸の神恵内村を結ぶ道道998号線の中間地点(古平町、神恵内村境界付近）にある。神恵内村に入って国道229号線を南下すると泊原子力発電所があり、ここで事故が発生した場合この道道998号線が避難道路の役割を果たす事になっている。その為、特に冬期間積雪の多い当丸峠頂上付近ではスノーシェルターが整備されている。峠の頂上付近にシェルターの抜け穴があり、そこが当丸峠展望台になっている。展望台の駐車場から約1km南に周囲約800ｍの小さな沼「当丸沼」がある。
Hokkaido Prefectural Highway Route 998 runs from Furubira Town on the east coast of Hokkaido's Shakotan Peninsula to Kamoenai Village on the west coast. This road is meant to serve as an evacuation route for the surrounding residents in the event of an accident at the Tomari Nuclear Power Plant in Tomari Village, just south of Kamoenai Village. For this reason, the road near Tomaru Pass, which is high in altitude and experiences a lot of snow in the winter, is covered with snow shelters. Near the top of the pass, there is a hole in the shelter and an observation deck. About 1 km from there is Tomaru Swamp, which is about 800 m in circumference.
