Mecklenburg County election officials say early voting turnout for Charlotte's primary is close to what was seen two years ago, but remain hopeful the low numbers could increase this weekend.
Since early voting began on Aug. 21, more than 7,800 ballots have been cast in the Charlotte primary. On Friday, Sept. 5, all nine early voting sites in Charlotte are open from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The final day of early voting is Saturday, with hours from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Election officials remind voters to bring a photo ID. Most voters use a driver’s license, but passports, military IDs and other forms are also accepted.
Turnout started slowly, with only one site open for a week in August. Once all nine sites opened after Labor Day, daily turnout jumped into the thousands. #News #Politics
