New Zealanders were among the first in the world to welcome 2026 as a spectacular fireworks display lit up Auckland’s skyline. A 10-second countdown was projected onto the Sky Tower before fireworks were launched from multiple levels, sending thousands of shots into the night sky. The five-minute show featured over 500 kilograms of pyrotechnics, with the Auckland Harbour Bridge also illuminated to mark the new year.
