Fairytale France: Kayaking & Châteaux in The Dordogne!

How has another week flown by already? We packed so much into the last few days while our friends were visiting, and I can’t wait to bring you along for the ride. Editing this vlog was such a joy—it’s one of those episodes I know I’ll be so grateful to look back on in years to come because the memories are just so special.

We kicked off the week by setting up our pool—gifted to us by my mum when we first moved over. It’s an absolute must in this heat! Then we headed out for a kayaking adventure down the Dordogne, and wow—what an experience. If you’re in the area, whether you're a local or just visiting, don’t miss the chance to do this. It’s incredible! In the vlog, I talk about why spring is the perfect time to go: fewer crowds, more space on the river, and higher water levels—which means less paddling and a much more relaxed ride. I’ll pop the link to the canoe rental company below.

Next, we visited the stunning Château de Biron, a magnificent 12th-century castle that’s rich with history. It’s recently had a bit of a revival thanks to the French TV show Les Traîtres (The Traitors), which is filmed there. While you’re exploring, keep an eye out for signs of its turbulent past during the French Revolution—fascinating stuff.

And finally, we got caught in the most dramatic storm—absolutely wild! As you’ll see, I remained completely calm… not! I’ve added a little montage at the end of the vlog so you can enjoy the lightning show with us.
