On November 1947, then Indian Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru informed the Indian Parliament that “when people of Kashmir are given a chance to decide their future, this should be done under the supervision of an impartial body such as United Nations Organization (UNO)”. On April 21, 1948 India approached the United Nations in order to resolve the issue but the world body failed to settle the issue. Therefore the Kashmir issue still exists. So keep in mind that India was the first country which took the Kashmir issue to the UN.
