We set out into Yellowstone expecting a normal day in the field. Instead, we found ourselves pulled into one of the wildest, most unpredictable stories we’ve ever experienced.

It begins when we locate an entire pack of wolves on the move. As we follow them across the landscape, the day starts to unravel in unexpected ways. The wolves lead us straight into the heart of the ecosystem—where coyotes emerge, two black bears appear, and the tension builds with every step.

What we eventually uncover is far more sobering: a dead wolf puppy and a nearby wolf den, offering a raw and emotional glimpse into the reality of survival in the wild. Moments like this are difficult to witness, but they’re an essential part of understanding these animals and the world they live in.

This episode is a nonstop ride—full of twists, surprises, and powerful encounters that remind us just how interconnected everything is out here. Nothing about this day was planned, and that’s exactly what made it unforgettable.
