IV. The Invitation--Here the composer adds to and paraphrases the words
of Emma Lazarus´ poem. "The Colossus." inscribed on the base of the statue: "Give me your tired. your poor...." In the suite´s only vocal section.
the names of the states are sung in the order in wich they joined the union. This theme becomes the basis of a symphonic march that ends the movement.
