About the album LÓGOS
The digital album LÓGOS presents Nektaria Karantzi in a selection of Byzantine Christmas hymns, combining her solo interpretations with the voices of the two ensembles she founded to highlight the presence of women in Byzantine chant: the women’s choir Psaltries and the girls’ choir Nektar, formed by her students and members of the Women in Byzantine Music Worldwide Association.

The title LÓGOS is inspired by the deep theological notion of the Logos — “ὁ Λόγος σὰρξ ἐγένετο” — as expressed in the opening verse of the Gospel of John. The album connects the Nativity of Christ with the theological and philosophical dimension of the Logos, conveyed through the contemplative atmosphere and mystical melodic art of Byzantine hymnography.
