In this episode, we look at something who’s IS literally a matter of life and death. Something that directly affects half of the planet and indirectly the other. This is something without which we wouldn’t be here. This episode ladies and gentlemen, guys and gals, is about Men’s Health.
In keeping with my short post a couple of weeks ago, I’ll take a deeper look at the topic which is the focus of Movember. As you can see, my effort is still there. So far we’ve raised €280 and would like to make at least €500 before the month is out. Ultimately, a relatively small sum, all things considered.
What is Men's Health?Men's health refers to their overall physical, mental and emotional well-being and encompasses aspects such as fitness training, nutrition, sexual health care and preventive healthcare services.In The WorkplaceMen’s health is also very important in the workplace. Here I’m going to give five points that can help men to look after their health, and in so doing, improve their health.1. Regular physical activity can significantly enhance both men's health and productivity at work,2. It is crucial that men follow a balanced diet consisting of fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains.3. Stress management in the workplace is integral for men's wellbeing.4. Men are in need of regular doctor check-ups and preventive healthcare to maintain good health.5. Fostering a supportive work culture for male employees' mental wellbeing at work is of utmost importance for men's wellbeing in the workplace.The Coaching PerspectiveThe coaching perspective for men’s health is no different to any other subject. Consider these five questions as good for thought.1. How would you assess your overall physical health and fitness, and with particular regard to any areas of concern?2. With regard to that, what goes particularly well, and conversely what improvements could you make?3. Have you recently noticed any changes or symptoms related to your mental health, such as stress, anxiety or mood changes that impact you while at work? If this is the case for you, what what can you do to seek help?4. Do you prioritise self-care activities such as regular exercise, sufficient sleep and maintaining a balanced diet adequately, to eliminate obstacles to working effectively.5. Are there any health screenings or check-ups available, and, if that is the case, are they sufficiently promoted? What can be done to implement these if that’s not the case?
In summaryMen’s health is an important factor not just at work but privately also. We all need to ensure that there is a healthy awareness of the importance of men’s health.
Equally please bear in mind that it is our own individual responsibility to ensure that the topic is addressed and recognised.
In addition, that we employ strategies for maintaining our health, be it physically or mentally. From a personal perspective, I find riding my motorbike is a great help in diverting my attention away from work or personal distractions.
The alternative focus, if even for a short while is extremely beneficial.
In the clamour for diversity – which often comes down to gender, it’s very useful to go back to basics and also focus on the indisputable realities of how we all exist.
