But behind the Fednet news network was a cutting and humorous satire, one which was never replicated in its sequels. Johnny Rico might have returned, and the franchise might have even delved into cutting edge 3d animation, but the same problems have always remained. It's hard to do a sequel to a movie that isn't supposed to revel in its action and gore. It may have been inspired by aliens, and inspired halo, but Starship Troopers is ultimately a critique not a romp! The sequels aren't romps, but not by design...
