Kayaking Hayle Estuary: Speed Boat Nearly Tips Me Out!

Описание: My final kayaking outdoor adventure of my Cornwall holiday takes me into the Hayle Estuary from the Atlantic Ocean for what I hoped would be a peaceful exploration of the shore and waterways around Hayle town. What started as a calm morning paddle quickly turned eventful when a speed boat came racing into the estuary at what seemed like an excessive speed, creating a massive wake that nearly capsized my kayak and filled it with water!

This estuary exploration showcases the quieter side of Cornwall's waterways, taking me through the marina areas, past harbour-side apartments under construction, and around the various channels that make up the Hayle river system. While the estuary itself proved less scenic than expected, the adventure certainly wasn't lacking in excitement - from nearly getting wiped out by that reckless speed boat to attempting a surf landing on increasingly large waves at the end.

A reminder that estuaries can be challenging with tidal flows, and always watch out for inconsiderate boat traffic! Sometimes the most "boring" locations can provide the most memorable adventures.
