The Wreath Sash was created by Interior Designer and Fig & Dove founder and creative director Colleen Waguespack. Waguespack found inspiration for the Wreath Sash after visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute's spring 2018 exhibition, Heavenly Bodies, and viewing sashes worn with Papal Robes. The exhibit displayed garments and medieval art from The Met collection to examine the traditions of Catholicism.
The first Wreath Sash was sold by Fig & Dove on October 18, 2018, as a modern take on traditional wreath and front door decor. The Wreath Sash quickly gained popularity and is now a popular accessory on front doors across the United States.
