In Puerto Rico, we face major challenges in guaranteeing access to healthy, local, and dignified food. Today, much of our farmland remains in private hands and vulnerable to speculation, limiting equitable access for farmers who seek to cultivate in harmony with nature.
In response to this reality, at #FiTiCAS we are advancing #porloscomunesagroecológicos (For the Agroecology Commons): living territories where land is protected as a commons through collective tenure models that strengthen local, ecological, and socially responsible agriculture.
In this video, you will meet five landless agroecological farmers — Stephanie, Félix, Manfred, Kevin, and Marina — alongside José and Nélida, who chose to take a critical step so that land can serve life and those who steward it.
Their voices remind us that land is not a commodity.
Land is life, community, and a shared future.
