In this video I show you how I made an installer for seating bearing races in motorcycle steering heads.
Roller bearing motorcycle steering heads consist of tapered roller bearings at opposite ends of the steering head tube, the installer works by drawing the top and bottom races into the tube. In the past I have used a hammer and a piece of wood, but I decided it was high time I made the special tool that I really should use.
This video will focus on how I machine one of three race installers from a cylindrical block of aluminium, as well as the draw bar for the installer.
