Following the ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula reiterating the party’s promise to expropriate land without compensation over the weekend, the civil rights organisation AfriForum has identified 2026 as a watershed year in the fight to protect the constitutional right to private property. While addressing a rally in Mogwase in Rustenburg as part of the ANC’s 114th anniversary celebrations, Mbalula further stated that the ANC also intends to push more extreme policies through such as nationalising the Reserve Bank.
