Coal is Still King on the Norfolk Southern Mon Line

Описание: Norfolk Southern climbing grade out of Waynesburg Pa. with a loaded
coal drag having 4 Conrail high sided gons in the consist. We catch this
train at the Greene County Fairgrounds entrance and then again at
Schoolhouse Road crossing near Mather Pa. Gonna show you a close
up of one of the Conrail cars as this train is stopped in a siding down
track.

Our sister mine Emerald had closed operations about 7 years ago and
when our new owners bought Cumberland they also inherited Emerald.
They have started a frac sand transloading facility there at Emerald and
it has only been in operation for a few weeks now. I will have some
videos out in the future on tearing Emerald down and building the new
track at Emerald, plus showing how they are unloading the frac sand
hopper cars. Here in Greene County we are right in the heart of the
Marcellus Shale Gas Play and natural gas wells are everywhere and for
new drilling they are in need of frac sand. The demand is tremendous!

Frac sand comes from Wisconsin, hauled by Canadian National to Chicago
where CN interchanges with Norfollk Southern. Then NS brings the sand
here. NS train symbol for those trains is 60W. More about gas well fracking
will come in another much future video.

NS 8097 is a GE ES44AC built 2/2012 and 8088 is also a GE ES44Ac built 3/2011.
