There’s a little boy named David
With his pockets full of dreams
Running through the twilight fields
Where nothing’s what it seems
Friendly dragons circle low
With wings of painted light
They laugh and breathe out purple fire
That warms the coming night

Oh run, little David, don’t be afraid
The world is kind where the shadows fade
If dreams get heavy and sleep feels deep
The magic will stay while you drift to sleep

When nighttime brings him nightmares
And the dark won’t let him be
He curls beneath the giant shrooms
That glow so patiently
They shimmer soft in mellow green
And snow a fog so slow
A drifting haze of orange spores
Like embers falling low

Oh rest, little David, the dark is mild
You’re safe in the dreams of a dreaming child
Let worries float and fade away
Morning will find you with light to play

Green dragonflies at sunset
Dance in golden air
They sing like tiny songbirds
Songs only David hears
Their voices hum of better dreams
Of skies that never end
They promise night will pass him by
Like an old and gentle friend

Checkered rabbits gather close
With stories soft and slow
They speak of stars and hidden paths
And places kids can go
They tell him tales of bravery
Of hearts that always try
Till David’s eyes grow heavy
And the moon drifts through the sky

So sleep, little David, the world is near
With magic and kindness watching here
Dragons rest and dreams take flight
