Title: How to Pray - The Proper Pattern of Prayer Part 2

Introduction:
Today, as we look at Matthew 6:10, we are standing at the doorway of a prayer that changes everything. It shifts us from “God, bless my plans” to “God, establish Your kingdom.” From “my will be done” to “Your will be done.” It is the kind of prayer Jesus still calls His people to pray today. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Propositional:
Our Lord teaches us to pray with our eyes fixed upon the rule and reign of God: “Your kingdom come.” This is not a casual request. It is a confession that God alone is King, and that His authority is absolute over heaven and earth.

Outline:
This is the reason why I want us to consider three elements in this petition: What the kingdom is, How the kingdom comes, and what the kingdom requires. We begin with what the kingdom is.

1. WHAT THE KINGDOM IS
2. HOW THE KINGDOM COMES
3. WHAT THE KINGDOM REQUIRES

Summary
We know that all things are governed by the sovereign hand of God, yet He has appointed means through which His purposes are accomplished. Prayer is one of those means. Without it, our churches grow cold, our hearts grow hard, and our communities remain under the shadow of sin. With it, God works in power according to His good and perfect will. So, let us rise, O church of Christ, to the task that God has given us. Let us pray,
let us labour for the advancement of His kingdom, and let us trust the God to
accomplish what His sovereign hand has ordained.
