We had an absolute WAR in the CIFSS Division 2 Championship as the San Clemente Tritons and Los Alamitos Griffins met once again in one of the toughest, grittiest rivalries in Southern California!!!
Both teams came in battle-tested. Both teams know how to grind for 60 minutes. And every time these two link up, it’s a dogfight — but nothing compared to the stakes and intensity of this championship night.
Just a month ago, San Clemente cruised to a 19–point win over Los Al, handling the Griffins pretty comfortably. But a month is a lifetime in high school football — and the Griffins came into this one with revenge on their minds AND a championship on the line. They were locked in from the opening kickoff.
The Los Alamitos defense came out flying, smothering the Tritons offense and giving their own unit — led by star running back Lenny Ibarra — the chances they needed to strike early. They took control, built momentum, and forced San Clemente to battle from behind all night.
But the Tritons didn’t fold. They fought back possession after possession, refusing to go down without leaving everything on the field in true SC fashion.
In the end, the Griffins defense made the difference. They came up with more stops than the Tritons could overcome and sealed the Division 2 championship with a clutch interception to slam the door shut in the final moments.
