Jordan was arrested inside a caravan on a fairground 36 hours after Zara was murdered.
He pled guilty to murdering Zara Aleena in a frenzied and sexually motivated attack and will serve a minimum of 38 years behind bars.
He was sentenced at the Old Bailey on Wednesday, 14 December having pleaded guilty to murder and sexual assault at the same court on Friday, 18 November.
Zara was walking home along Cranbrook Road in Ilford in the early hours of Sunday, 26 June when she was approached from behind and dragged into a driveway by McSweeney. He subjected her to a brutal attack, returning multiple times to deliver repeated blows, leaving her with significant injuries.
