HOLST "THAXTED" | "I Vow to Thee My Country" | "O God Beyond All Praising" (for Brass Quintet)

Описание: Many will recognize this melody from Holst’s masterwork, “The Planets,” and he did originally write it for that piece, and specifically for the “Jupiter, Bringer of Jollity” movement. After, it was adapted as a patriotic anthem, “I Vow to Thee, My Country,” with newly penned words by Cecil Spring Rice. And yet later, it was used with different words in a hymn called “O God Beyond All Praising.” It is a stately and satisfying piece, and in its various guises, among the most well-loved melodies in history.
