The V2500 engines of the MD-90 vs the JT8D engines of the MD-80. Turn up your volume and have a listen! Who wins?
Both aircraft seen departing runway 17 of the Minneapolis Int'l Airport (MSP) in the same conditions. McDonnell-Douglas MD-90 of Delta Airlines and MD-88 of American Airlines. The MD-90 actually seemed to put up some nice sounds, as did the MD-88, but of course the MD-88 sounds hung around afterwards for a lot longer!
Sound quality is not exact, not a professional grade microphone, just the one in a Sony DSC-H70 digital camera. Didn't do the JT8D sounds much justice as you can actually "feel" the noise in-person, but anyways, enjoy and thanks for watching!
